About District Councils

Each of Chicago’s twenty-two police districts has a local District Council (DC), created in 2021 as part of broader police accountability reforms. Each DC has three elected members who work as a team to hold public monthly meetings and uplift community concerns around policing and public safety, alternative response programs, police accountability, and more. At a local level, District Councilors are a conduit for community input and concerns about public safety to flow from residents to the city, and for information and resources from the city to reach residents.

Chicago's Police District 20 is bordered by Peterson Ave (and a little bit of Thorndale) on the north, by Lawrence Ave on the south, by Lake Michigan on the east, and by the North Branch of the Chicago River on the west.
